A PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
  by USCCB

Lord Jesus, Son of the Eternal Father and Mary Immaculate, give to our young people the generosity necessary to follow Your call and the courage required to overcome all obstacles to their vocation. Give to parents that faith, love and spirit of sacrifice which will inspire them to offer their childrento God's service and to rejoice whenever one of their children is called to the priesthood or religious life. May Your example and that of Your Blessed Mother and Saint Joseph encourage both young people
and parents and let Your grace sustain them. Amen.

ANNUAL YOUTH CONFERENCE ATTENDED
  by HOUSTON SERRA CLUB

Recently at the Galveston-Houston Diocese Annual Youth Convention, Ted Wandstrat, V.P. Vocations of Serra Club of Houston, District 10, set up a Serra Club Booth equipped with a magnificent golden arch of the covenant, a questionnaire about the Catholic faith, two $500 Apple Store gift certificates, and 200 “To Touch a Thousand Souls” books to give away. Many youth told him they have already read it! They had 215 entries into the teens drawing and 95 entries into the adult apple gift certificate drawings. Benino Soria won the teens drawing and Randy McCorkle won the adult’s gift. “The goals going in were to promote the Serra Club by letting people know what we do, to promote vocations and to promote the faith by teaching something to the teens that they did not know about their faith. We were successful in all areas. That is not to say we can’t make it better next year! The Conferences have been going on each year from about 1982. They had 2128 teens registered this year making this conference the largest diocesan conference in the United States. I am extremely pleased that Serra could be present this year.” These were comments made by Ted Wandstrat recently in an email forwarded our way by Margo Geddie. Congratulations to Ted Wandstrat for reaching out to our Catholic youth.
