ANNUAL CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY by GALVESTON SERRANS |
The Annual Christmas Party was held on Thursday, December 1, at Gaido’s Restaurant. There were 109 who attended this year’s celebration, thanks to the hard work of Joan Rust who coordinated this exceptional event.
Congratulations to Randy Klibert who was presented the 2011 Serran of the Year Award by Pete Parsons, the 2010 Serran of the Year. Randy addressed the group with sincere thanks and appreciation of the family of Serrans whom he has come to know. He especially felt their love and support during the recent death of his mother, and expressed his deep gratitude of all the support he received.
Cardinal Daniel DiNardo spoke to the group and asked everyone to pray intensely for vocations. He remarked there were 52 seminarians this year, but still desires even more seminarians. There is also a need for more sisters. He mentioned the sacrament of marriage is in trouble and so are vocations. The cardinal said we have major work of prayer ahead of us and begs us to pray intensely.
CONGRATULATIONS TO RANDY KLIBERT, 2011 SERRAN OF THE YEAR! |

A PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS by USCCB |
PRAY FOR VOCATIONS
Father, we're your people, the work of your hands. So precious are we in your sight that you sent your Son, Jesus. Jesus calls us to heal the broken-hearted, to dry the tears of those who mourn, to give hope to those who despair, and to rejoice in your steadfast love. We, the baptized, realize our call to serve. Help us to know how. Call forth from among us priests, sisters, brothers and lay ministers. With our hearts you continue to love your people. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.
